Lore
In the silent ruins of a once large city, where nature had reclaimed its place among cracked concrete and rusted steel, wandered Tchernobob, an elf scarred by the catastrophe. Once a member of a secretive people dwelling in the surrounding forests, he had witnessed the deadly blast of Reactor No. 4. The explosion poisoned the land and warped the magic of the area, transforming the elves into creatures consumed by radiation. But not Tchernobob.
He survived, his body absorbing radioactive energy like a second kind of magic. His pale skin glowed with a faint green hue in the darkness, and his eyes shimmered like two dying suns. The cataclysm had rendered him immortal but severed his connection to his people. Now, he was alone — a specter in a world even humans had abandoned.
Tchernobob roamed the debris, gathering fragments of the old world: books worn by time, abandoned dolls, clocks frozen at 1:23. He guarded the exclusion zone, guiding the few survivors and daring stalkers who ventured in, saving them from danger or warning them of unseen perils. Some whispered that he could speak with the ghosts of the victims, carrying within him the memory of the dead.
But Tchernobob had a purpose: to cleanse the corrupted land. Each night, he descended into the heart of the sarcophagus, where the reactor's poison still pulsed. Using his altered magic, he absorbed the deadly energy bit by bit, paying a terrible price in pain and isolation. He knew his existence was an act of penance for a world he had failed to protect.
Legends say that one day, when the shadows of Cyberia finally fade, Tchernobob will fade with them, leaving behind a land ready to be reborn. But for now, he continues his vigil — a strange light in the radioactive darkness.
